Dread Zeppelin announce the return of Spice!
Dread Zeppelin and the boys announce the return of Spice to the band. Don't worry Ziggy Knarley fans, he ain't heavy, he's still our drummer.
Spice will be taking over the percussion, keyboard, and anything silly duties. He is also the producer of the upcoming DZ recording "Bar Coda". The debut of the new revamped DZ was at the Hard Rock Hotel May 25th in Las Vegas.

Dread
works "blue"at 14 Below?
The
band worked "blue" at 14 Below last Friday night. The
crowd demanded it after Tort responed to Carls's Jah's question
during the Whole Lotta Love guitar-vocal trade off. "Tort,
just do what I do" said Carl. "Oh, giving cheap bleep jobs in the parking lot?" responded Tortelvis. The tone was
set and the crowd ate it up. Is this the new DZ direction? "I
don't think so" said Butt-Boy in an after show interview with
the Pasadena Weekly. "We should probably go the way of Jerry
Sienfeld rather than Redd Foxx" added Mr. Boy. But chants of
"Dread work blue, Dread work blue" were heard as fans
headed to their cars. When the Weekly asked Tort the same question
he commented, "We're on our way right now to sing Gospel songs
'til daylight. I'll leave it at that". Developing.......

Charlie
Hodge (not Charlie Haj) Dies
Charlie
Hodge, 71, formerly a backup singer, guitar player and towel boy
for Elvis Presley, died Friday March 3rd at a hospital in Knoxville, Tenn. For the last 15 years, Hodge performed
in tributes to Presley at Memories Theater in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.,
with Presley impersonator Lou Vuto. Theater officials said Hodge
had been undergoing treatment for lung cancer. Hodge met Presley
when they served in the Army. After their service, Hodge worked
with Presley and lived at Graceland for 17 years. "We're all
Elvis fans who work here, and Charlie made us feel so close to Elvis,"
Vuto said. "When you hung out with Charlie, it was like you
were hanging out with Elvis and Charlie." The Alabama native's
musical career also included singing with a number of quartets,
including one with gospel great Bill Gaither.

At 6:30 PM PST on May 27th, DZ took
the field at Bank One Ballpark in Phoenix AZ., and Tortelvis with
the boys flanking him proceeded to belt out The Star Spangled Banner".
Spice removed his wig, Ed Zeppelin removed his rasta tam (only to
unveil an identical one underneath) and Carl Jah mimicked the words
as Big T sang and ended with the customary "claw" and
"scoop ending". After a bit of mingling with Diamondbacks
top brass, the boys took their seats in the stadium and took in
the game just before heading out to play an outdoor show in the
plaza. I hear rumblings of a Tortelvis ticket to the game going
up on eBay after he so humbly signed the thing for a fan. We'll see about that.
We are hoping to have some video of the Anthem for you soon.
And maybe a dvd as well. Keep checking in!

The now successful American
Casino series on Discovery Channel has been renewed for another
13 episodes says Ralph Wikke, producer of the hit show. Ralph gave Tortelvis a bang on the bells and the
big man was pleased to find out the news. As you know, the boys
recorded "Viva Las Vegas" for the title song of the show.
Produced by Pilgrim Films, the same company that brings you the
wildly popular "American Chopper",
the new show aires on Friday nightds at 8 and 11 pm on Discovery.
A full version of Viva Las Vegas (recorded
at the same session) is soon to follow, featuring Tort, Butt, Jah,
and the Knarley brothers. Rumors have it the song will appear on
an extended single; songs from which are as of now undisclosed.

While chatting with fans in the parking lot of 14
Below Saturday night during a meet 'n greet, Tortelvis literally
had a brush with death as a nissan mini-van (hey our fans are gettin'
older) sped away and almost took the pompadoured
one with him. "The hot damn rear view mirror spun my
cape into my face man! That son of a &$%^#! Get him back here
so I can whip his A!" said T.

Butt-boy and Spice have finally lost it (go figure).
A green party-dress over the "guilty of rockin'" underwear
was the letter of the night for Butt-Boy. "da boy was wigglin'
'round like a bloody sea-creature on da stage mon", said Ed
Zeppelin after the show. "We goat-a stop dis stuff mon. It
yah bringin' me down ya no". And Spice was no picture of conservatism
either. A red and white flowered sundress was a slightly distracting
site, but the curtsy that followed each song took the cake. What's
the deal Spice!

Dread Zeppelin IS in the studio recording a new cd. However, progress is slow but steady. So far
basics have been laid for The Lemon Song, Celebration day, Thank
you, The Ocean and The Rover. Of the five songs, four have never
been recorded by the group. This cd, tenatively titled "Dread
zeppelin Fore" is being produced by longtime Dread Zeppelin
drummer, Spice. No release date has been set.
